May Production Update
almost 3 years ago – Fri, May 28, 2021 at 07:32:41 PM

Hey folks,

Here's a small update on how production is going on Shattered City:

Slipcases are done! They're on their way to the warehouse now - as soon as they're there, non-US Deluxe Edition orders will start shipping out.

Bookplates are done! These will go in with each Deluxe Edition - that's 120 plates, each signed by me and with a unique, handwritten Qoam artefact. This was a lot of work but I'm really glad to have done it!

Once slipcases are at the warehouse, we'll ship all of the US orders out, along with their add-on items. We'll keep you up to date about when you can expect your delivery.

That's all for now - hopefully I'll have more information for you soon!

Best wishes,

Mina

Delivery Update
about 3 years ago – Mon, Apr 26, 2021 at 04:07:37 PM

Hey folks!

Just a quick update to say how orders are progressing:

  • There's been a bit of a production delay on the slipcases for the Deluxe editions, but I'm told they'll be at the warehouse within 3 weeks. At that point, Deluxe editions will start shipping.
  • Non-deluxe editions are on their way to non-US backers.
  • We're going to ship the US normal and Deluxe orders together, and then fulfil them from our US-based distributors. We'll give you a time estimate for how long that'll be once the pallets of books are safely on their way.

If you have any questions about your order, please send me a message! Other than that, that's all the Shattered City news I have to report.

Read on for plugs...

Hard Wired Island is out! I did layout, graphic design, and a little bit of rules/setting consultation for this cyberpunk game of street-level agitation, cool heists and 90s anime references. It was a joy to work on, and I'm excited to see the great response it's been getting.

SPIRE: SIN from my colleagues at Rowan, Rook and Decard (and laid out by yours truly) is in its final few days on kickstarter. It delves into the crime, law enforcement and religions of their weird fantasy metropolis. If you like social drama in a fantasy city - and given that you backed this project, I hope that describes you - give it a look!

Fulfilment starts in one week!

Hey folks,

A quick note to say that we plan on starting to send out books next week! If you need any address changes, please let us know as soon as possible.

Very excited to start seeing the books in you folks' hands!

Production Update: Home Stretch
about 3 years ago – Wed, Mar 10, 2021 at 06:15:27 PM

Hi all,

Firstly, I’d like to apologise for my lack of communication concerning this project. After the last update in November, there were unexpected issues with the print files, but even after signing off on the final files with the manufacturer back in early January various shortages and delays related to Brexit have interrupted the printing process and pushed back delivery by several months. It’s been frustrating to not have any news to give you, and I’m sorry that I’ve left you in the dark.

However, I’m happy to confirm that the books are now with Kixto, our fulfilment agency, and we’re getting ready to ship them around the world. We think we’ve confirmed a method to get books to EU countries without EU customers needing to pay extra duties. In order to get US backers your books, I’m putting together a freight shipment to get all the stock we need to Studio 2 Publishing, who will take over fulfillment from there once it clears customs.

In terms of production, I need to quality check the final book, and we’re now in the process of creating the slip-cases for the deluxe versions; I’ve dispatched a copy of the book to the manufacturer recommended by the printer and they’ll begin work soon. Everything else is complete and ready to ship, so to expedite things, I am going to start fulfilling non-deluxe orders first.

Importantly - I am working closely with Rowan, Rook and Decard (a UK indie publisher with proven experience in delivering roleplaying books to backers) to fulfil this project as quickly and smoothly as possible from here on. I’ve also contacted a French translator to start the process of working out a translation contract for Shattered City.

I will update you all with more information as soon as the schedule for shipping has been put in place, especially for international deliveries.

Best wishes,

Mina

Production Update
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 03, 2020 at 07:28:05 PM

Hey folks, I thought I'd give an update on the production timeline.

First up, thank you for your patience. 2020 has been one hell of a year and this game has hit some unexpected hurdles on the way. I'm glad to hear reports of people playing the game out in the wild (e.g. these two articles from Paul Mitchener at the Indie Game Reading Club), and it's been good to hear stories of each different groups' Montara.

Second: the card addons have been completed! I'm very happy with how they turned out, and both the A4 handouts and poker-sized decks are looking great. See below for pictures:

House and Hero handouts
The front of the Resource Cards
Reverse of the Resource Cards
The factor deck comes with 12 city buildings, 12 borderlands landmarks, and 24 different plot factors.

Third: the books. Unfortunately, our printer ran into unexpected shortages and has had to delay printing of Shattered City. This means we're going to be receiving our books at the start of January. This is a lot later than expected, and I apologise for the delays. In light of this, I've unlocked addresses on Backerkit - if you'll be in a different place by January/February 2021, please do log in and update your order there.

Thanks once more for your support. It's been a long run and I'm glad to have had you all with me.

Best wishes,

Mina
